Default Can't Modify because THEY don't know new payment?

Hello!First of all I have been reading this forum for about 2 months now - thanks to everyone! My rate adjusts in August, so I sent out my hardship letter by email to Countrywide with budget & income sheet one week ago today & never heard back from anyone. {Does anyone know if they have to respond in a certain time frame?}One month ago I tried to re-fi with them but the value of my home dropped from a high of $605K to by their estimate $370K (ouch.) At the time, they told me to call back on the 1st of July, don't make a payment till the last day of the grace period so I would look late, and then they would talk to me.Well, of course I call back today & they can't help because "It's the darndest thing, your account doesn't show what your new payment will be! That's too bad, we can't help you unless we know it is going to go up."Has anyone heard this? Are they stalling?Any info would be appreciated...Help!Lana
