How do I stop collection annoying calls.

I had an account with Cingular home phone and a cell phone no roaming charges!

I was in Arizona and I received a call my father had passed away. I called a relative and asked and i call everyone back in Chicago. I will do the long distance, I have free roaming Cingular/SBC sent me a huge bill so I called Cingular said and they said the rep misinformed you.

You don't have free roaming and I paid my home phone bill and disputed the cell phone bill. The company didn't budge and neither did I. It has gone to a collection agency, it's now the FINAL BILL AND THEY HARASS me night and day and weekends. They are offering me to pay just half. I think 1/3 is fare ($150).

How do I do this and not have it on my credit report?
