I called the lender and explained my situation in detail, requesting a modification on my home loan, due to adjust in September. This was in early July. I was mailed the expense/income papers, instructed to fill them out, then mail or fax them back, and told I would receive a call in about a week. I mailed the info including a hardship letter explaining my situation (thanks zinomortgage), but did not hear from anyone as told. Called the lender (Homecomings Financial) on 7/24. Was told it was too early to consider modification because the loan was not delinquent and would not adjust until September. He said that the loan might not adjust at all based on the margin/index numbers in the future, and to call the loan counseling dept in September. This is a increase of 1100.00 dollars. I would not be able to afford this pymt due in October. What else can I do to speed up the process. Has anyone dealt with this, do they prefer/wait for you to become delinquent with your mortgage? My husband was injured on his primary job, had surgery, and was restricted to return to his job due to limitations (had parttime job too). Comp pymts over so we have only one income. He applied for SS disability but that takes up to six months. Able to pay current mortgage, things are real tight but able to do it. Image:
