Any luck with Wachovia modification Our adjustable mortgage was originally with World Savings - pick a pay, negative amortization. Wachovia bought them out. Under the World contract, we could pay $500 to convert to a fixed rate 30 year loan. When we called Wachovia about this, they had decided not to offer this conversion, I fought it and won, making our interest rate 6.56% fixed for 28 more years. In June, we called and requested help with our mortgage because we had a huge increase in expenses. They automatically approved us for a one time no pay that month. Well long story short, they were wrong in approving this and in July showed we were one month late on our payment. After much negotiation they said all they could do is help us by doing a 12 month repay of the $2100 mortgage payment we missed. Now our payment is $2333 a month and we are struggling with this. Our house value is $235k and we owe $330k on the first and $82k on the second. Is there any way to get a modification with lower payments or reducing principal? |
