Help with HSBC

Has anyone had any success with HSBC on a modification other than a 6 month term? I was approved for a 6 month term. After the 6 months was over I was told I had to apply for another 6 months. I did and I was turned down, my financial situation has not changed. I dont understand? I would like some advice on how to approach HSBC about a longer term, maybe 2 to 3 years. I would like to try and do this myself, I tried hope now and was sent to a local HUD agency, which has not gotten anywhere. Thank you very much.
