Default Oral Argument question

I have been representing myself in my foreclosure (I know the attorney who represents himself has a client for a fool but I can't afford one right now).Tomorrow is my oral argument hearing b/c I opposed to the bank's summary judgment motion. Would it be acceptable for me to tell the judge that the bank has offered me a loan modification that basically benefits them and I need time to hire an attorney to look over the loan mod. I'm actually thinking of finally hiring Gregory Paiva to work on the loan mod for me b/c the loan mod that Provident gave me is the same exact as the amount that I was paying that got me in trouble in the first place.Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
