Default Real issues w option one

I feel my parents are in a preditory lended mortgage. In Oct of 2005 was the refinace year and then when they recieved the letter Oct 2007 of the rate hike they tried and tried to contact option one to modify the loan no one would speak to my father they stated he was not on the loan and at this time my mother fell very ill, and could not speak, and so this went on until my mother passed away in Jan of 08 so then we tried to contact option one and let them know what happened and we wanted to modify the loan and they still would not speak to my father, so here we are 6 months later and my father has fell behind on the payments and so we are in preforclosure with them, and would you believe they will still not talk to my father but are taking him to court because now they are saying he is on the loan, my mother also signed a promissary note and so now we think we are going to end up losing the house for sure. Should I have the loan papers audited? If any one has any clue of what to do please let me know.
