We're in a First Franklin Mess

We are in FL and three years ago we bought our home. Our loan was through First Franklin as an ARM. Our agent told us that we would want to refinance in two years (we couldn't refinance because of the market). My husband suffered an injury on his job and had to cut back which in turn put us several months behind because of all the fees that started to be tacked on to our morgage payment. We then received a Foreclosure notice and contacted First Franklin to be put onto a loan modification program. Then they stopped taking monthly payments for our morgage and now we seem to be getting the runaround with them. We have called there offices about twice a week since this started. They would tell us that they needed different documents every phone call and that documents kept getting lost. I thought my husband was crazy until I heard all of this on the phone myself. We have faxed hundreds of documents to ten different fax machines. We don't know what to do because we are running out of time...they told us that Oct. 8th they will get a sale date. Has anyone had this happen??? I am running out of time and feel like we have no options to save our credit (which is already pretty much shot but fixable over the long haul). We kept seeing that this company is notorious for this kind of thing and that they have had many complaints. The company itself keeps switching hands and were a part of Merrill Lynch that just collapsed. We are in a mess with no shovel!!! That's our story.
